Thank you for taking some time to read through this information sheet before enrolling your child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
We appreciate your commitment to support your child’s faith development.
Parent’s Commitment to the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Seeking to grow in their faith journey and in their understanding of the meaning and implications of the Sacrament;
- Supporting their children to learn to pray, believe, experience parish community and to live as Christians in the context of their family life;
- Giving their children the opportunity to experience belonging to a parish faith community and in particular to celebrate Sunday Mass with their community.
Requirements for the Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Baptized in the Catholic Church
- Year 3 or above
- Attend all preparatory classes;
- Participate in the Retreat;
- Attend the Parent-Child Workshop.
These are the essential requirements for your child to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If you fail to fulfil these requirements, your child’s Sacrament will be deferred. In case you are unable to meet these requirements for any grave reason, please inform us at the earliest, before the events.
Important Dates to Remember
- Retreat: Thursday 31st March, 8:45am – 3:00pm at St Jerome’s Parish Hall;
- Parent-Child Workshop (attended by both the candidate and the parent/guardian) at St. Jerome’s Parish Hall. Please attend one of the three sessions
- Thursday 31st March, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
- Wednesday 6th April, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
- Wednesday 6th April, 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation shall be conferred on the candidates who are fully prepared during the Term- I holidays (Dates: 12, 13, 14, and from 19 to 23 April).
- Parents will need to make individual appointments for the Sacrament through the Parish Office (office hours Tuesday to Friday 9.00am to 2.30pm). Bookings will be taken from 23rd March 2021.
- Parents shall present their child to the priest for the Sacrament at their scheduled time.
In case you are unable to present your child for any grave reason, please inform us at the earliest, before the Sacrament date, otherwise your child’s Sacrament will be deferred.
