Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for taking some time to read through this information sheet before enrolling your child for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
We appreciate your commitment to support your child’s faith development.
Parent’s Commitment to the Sacrament of First Holy Communion
- Seeking to grow in their faith journey and in their understanding of the meaning and implications of the Sacrament;
- Supporting their children to learn to pray, believe, experience parish community and to live as Christians in the context of their family life;
- Giving their children the opportunity to experience belonging to a parish faith community and in particular to celebrate Sunday Mass with their community.
Requirements for the Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion
- Baptize in the Catholic Church
- Received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation
- Year 4 or above
- Attend all preparatory classes
- Participate in the Retreat
- Attend the Parent-Child Workshop.
These are the essential requirements for your child to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. If you fail to fulfil these requirements, your child’s Sacrament will be deferred. In case you are unable to meet these requirements for any grave reason, please inform us at the earliest, before the events.
Important Dates to Remember
- Retreat: Thursday 23rd June 2022, 8:45am – 3:00pm at St Jerome’s Parish Hall;
- Parent-Child Workshop (attended by both the candidate and the parent/guardian) at St Jerome’s Parish Hall. Please attend one of the three sessions.
- Wednesday 15th June 3:30pm – 5:00pm
- Wednesday 15th June 5:30pm – 7:00pm
- Thursday 23rd June 3:30pm – 5:00pm
Celebration of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion
The candidates who are fully prepared, shall receive their First Holy Communion during the weekend Masses of 25th and 26th of June 2022
In case you are unable to make it on this weekend please inform us at the earliest, before the Sacrament date, otherwise your child’s Sacrament will be deferred.
