Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for taking some time to read through this information sheet before enrolling your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
We appreciate your commitment to support your child’s faith development.
Parent’s Commitment to the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Seeking to grow in their faith journey and in their understanding of the meaning and implications of the Sacrament;
- Supporting their children to learn to pray, believe, experience parish community and to live as Christians in the context of their family life;
- Giving their children the opportunity to experience belonging to a parish faith community and in particular to celebrate Sunday Mass with their community.
Requirements for the Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Baptized in the Catholic Church
- Received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion
- Year 6 or above
- Attend all preparatory classes
- Participate in the Retreat
- Attend the Parent-Child Workshop.
These are the essential requirements for your child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
If you fail to fulfil these requirements, your child’s Sacrament will be deferred.
In case you are unable to meet these requirements for any grave reason, please inform us at the earliest, before the events.
Important Dates to Remember
- Retreat: Wednesday 08th September 8:45am – 3:00pm at St Jerome’s Parish Hall;
- Parent-Child Workshop (attended by both the candidate and the parent/Guardian) at St Jerome’s Parish Hall. Please attend one of the three sessions.
- Wednesday 31st August 3:30pm – 5:00pm
- Wednesday 31st August 5:30pm – 7:00pm
- Thursday 8th September 3:30pm – 5:00pm
Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation shall be conferred on the candidates who are fully prepared, during the weekend Masses of 17 and 18 September 2022.
In case you are unable to make it on the given weekend for any grave reason, please inform us at the earliest, before the Sacrament date, otherwise your child’s Sacrament will be deferred.
