Parish Sub-Committees

Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee is responsible for the Liturgical life of the Parish under the guidance of the Parish Priest.  It fosters holiness and grace within the Parish by preserving the integrity of the Liturgy. It is responsible for various ministries in the Parish, including Acolytes, Altar Servers, Special Ministers of Holy Communion, Ushers, Readers and Music Ministry.

Finance committee

This committee’s primary role is to oversee Parish finances and to maintain them in a sound state. They discuss various issues related to finance and aim at planning a budget so as to run the parish without entering into financial deficit. The committee members also look at how expenses can be minimized without neglecting the essentials.

Hall committee

This committee’s role is to deal with matters relating to the maintenance of the building and replacement of furnishing of the Barry Whitely Hall. They are also involved with issues regarding the hiring of the venue.

Faith Formation and Education

The St Jerome’s Catechist team offers to the parents of those children who do not attend a catholic school help in preparing their child for the sacraments. Religious Education classes commence in first term at the start of the school year.  Our program, based on “The Truth will set you free”, was developed by the Catechist office of the Catholic Education Department under the sponsorship of our Arch Bishop Barry James Hickey.

Our parish works closely with St Jerome’s primary school to ensure that both school and parish children receive the same preparation and participation in the various activities offered, and also to ensure parents that their children are ready to receive the sacraments. Classes for the preparation of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Pre Confirmation are held on Tuesdays after school from 4pm to 5pm. Confirmation classes are held on Saturday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30 am.

Our parish is always looking for catechists, to teach our children the faith of the church. We encourage all of our Parishioners, Teachers, Uni Students and year 12 Graduates to advise the Parish Priest if you are willing to help. Catechist teacher training will be provided by the Catholic Education Office.
